The Bhagwat Prakash Gallery

This exhibition has been made possible with the loan of photographic material from the Pictorial Archives of the Maharanas of Mewar. With over 14,000 objects, the Archives (one of the largest in India), are comprised of photographic materials encompassing equipment, negatives (glass-plate and film), printing processes (albumen, gelatin and platinum), images in a variety of formats (card photograph, photomontage, etc.) and spectacularly painted photographs, all from the mid 19th to the early 20th centuries. Photographs in a variety of evolving technologies continue to be added, extending the scope of the collection into the contemporary digital age.

The newly-refurbished Bhagwat Prakash Gallery is a world-class gallery space equipped with state-of-the-art light fittings and adhering to international conservation standards. The sensitive restoration and adaptation for museum use ensures that it sets a benchmark in contemporary museum practice anywhere in the world, creating possibilities for hosting quality national and international exhibitions.

• Rs. 25/- for adults (12 yrs and above)
