Lake Palace, Udaipur, originally known as Jag Niwas, was built in 1754 by Maharana Jagat Singh II who gave his name to this elegant building. Originally built as a cool summer retreat for the royal family, it is now a modern luxury hotel. This expansive building covers an area of about four acres including beautiful tress and gardens. The suites in the old part of the palace are spectacular - coloured glass windows, cool white marble and mosaic work are amongst some of the treasures on which to feast your eyes.
